Export and shipping
Welding machines, consumables and geomembrane shipped from Dubai to the Gulf and Africa. Freight routes, transit times, machine voltage configuration and the customs paperwork we provide.
Most geomembrane welding equipment is manufactured in Europe or China and quoted ex works. For a buyer in Nairobi, Lagos or Dammam that price is only the first of several numbers, and the others, freight, duty, a voltage mismatch discovered on site, and a lead time measured in weeks, are the ones that hurt.
Shipping from Dubai removes most of that. Jebel Ali reaches the Gulf by road, East and Southern Africa and South Asia by sea, and most of the region overnight by air. The machines are already here, they are configured for the destination before they leave, the paperwork is prepared with the consignment, and the freight leg is short. For African destinations Dubai is closer than Europe by both sea and air, and considerably easier to deal with than a factory in an unfamiliar market.
Gulf destinations
All six GCC states are served, and most consignments move by road rather than sea. Saudi Arabia routes through the Batha crossing, Oman through Sohar, and Bahrain by road through Saudi Arabia rather than direct sea freight.
| Destination | Entry point | Transit | Usual mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| United Arab Emirates | Jebel Ali | Same day to 3 days | Road |
| Saudi Arabia | Dammam, Jeddah, or road via Batha | 3 to 9 days | Road or sea |
| Qatar | Hamad Port, or road via Salwa | 3 to 7 days | Road or sea |
| Kuwait | Shuwaikh, Shuaiba | 4 to 9 days | Road or sea |
| Oman | Sohar, Salalah | 2 to 6 days | Road or sea |
| Bahrain | Khalifa Bin Salman, or road via Saudi | 4 to 8 days | Road or sea |
African destinations
Eight countries have their own page with local project context and freight detail. Destinations beyond these are covered by region on the Africa page, and we quote for any of them.
| Destination | Entry point | Transit | Usual mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| Egypt | Alexandria, Port Said | 8 to 14 days | Sea or air |
| Ethiopia | Djibouti, then road | 12 to 20 days | Sea plus road |
| Kenya | Mombasa | 14 to 20 days | Sea or air |
| Tanzania | Dar es Salaam | 14 to 21 days | Sea or air |
| Nigeria | Lagos (Apapa, Tin Can) | 16 to 24 days | Sea or air |
| Ghana | Tema | 16 to 24 days | Sea or air |
| Zambia | Dar es Salaam or Durban, then road | 21 to 30 days | Sea plus road |
| South Africa | Durban, Cape Town | 18 to 26 days | Sea or air |
Transit times are port to port or border to border and exclude customs clearance, which varies widely by destination and by consignment.
What travels with the consignment
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Certificate of origin
- Bill of lading or air waybill
- Manufacturer mill certificates, where geomembrane is included
- Machine documentation and the declared HS classification
One product-specific note: the Weldy WGW 300 is not sold by Weldy into EU or EFTA countries. That restriction does not touch any market on this page, all of which are outside both, but it is the reason we ship the machine from Dubai rather than sourcing it through Europe.
Where a destination requires pre-shipment inspection, legalisation or a conformity certificate, raise it at quotation stage. Several of these cannot be obtained after the goods have shipped.
Asian destinations
Three Asian markets are served directly. India is the shortest sea transit of any destination outside the Gulf, and Malaysia is the strongest single search term in our own research for HDPE geomembrane supply. All three have domestic liner manufacturing, so our competitive position there is welding plant, consumables and fast spare parts rather than bulk sheet.
| Destination | Entry point | Transit | Usual mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malaysia | Port Klang | 12 to 18 days | Sea or air |
| Philippines | Manila, Subic or Cebu | 16 to 24 days | Sea or air |
| India | Nhava Sheva or Mundra | 7 to 12 days | Sea or air |
Frequently asked questions
Do you ship welding machines outside the UAE?
Yes. Dubai is a natural export point for this equipment: Jebel Ali connects to East and Southern Africa, the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, and Dubai International moves urgent machines and spare parts by air overnight to most of the region. We ship to all six GCC states and to the African markets listed below, and can quote for destinations beyond them.
What voltage will the machine be supplied at?
Whatever the destination uses. Machines are configured before dispatch for the mains voltage and plug type of the country they are going to, normally 220 to 240 V at 50 Hz across the Gulf and most of Africa, or 110 to 120 V where required. Tell us the destination and, if the site runs on generators, the generator rating. A 2 kW wedge welder on an undersized generator at the end of a long lead will not hold its temperature, and that shows up as cold seams rather than as an obvious fault.
What documents do you provide for customs?
Commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin as standard. We will state the HS classification we use on the invoice, and provide a bill of lading or air waybill depending on the freight mode. Where a destination requires additional documentation, such as pre-shipment inspection, a legalised invoice or a specific conformity certificate, tell us at quotation stage rather than after dispatch, because several of these cannot be issued retrospectively.
Can machines and geomembrane ship together?
Yes, and it is usually the sensible arrangement. Liner rolls fill a container while machines are small by comparison, so consolidating removes a separate freight charge and gives one set of customs documents. It also guarantees the welding rod matches the sheet, since both come from one order. See geomembrane supply for the material side.
How quickly can a machine reach my site?
Within the GCC, usually days rather than weeks, and by road for most destinations. To African markets, air freight moves a single machine in a few days to the destination airport, with clearance time on top and varying considerably by country. Sea freight is slower but far cheaper for anything shipping with liner. Country by country transit estimates are in the table below, and they are transit times, not door to door, because customs clearance is outside anyone's control.
Do you supply spare parts to overseas sites?
Yes, and this is a large part of why buying from a stockist matters. Heating elements, rollers, shoes and nozzles are small, light and go by air freight quickly. A crew in East Africa waiting on a European manufacturer's order cycle can lose weeks. The same part from Dubai is generally on a flight the same week.
The rest of the range is on our main equipment and liner page.
